Nudey Tuesday: Givenchy Rouge Interdit Satin Lipstick in "26 Voluptuous Nude"

This week's Nudey Tuesday focuses on Givenchy's Rouge Interdit Satin Lipstick in "26 Voluptuous Nude." At $28, these are a little on the pricey side so I bought this with a 10% off V.I.B. coupon. These lipsticks come in a beautiful array of colors -lots of pinks and nudes (my favorites!) I was so excited when I bought this.. I went home, popped open the tube, and this is what I got:
Can you believe that?! That lipstick was smashed inside. It's weird because the lipstick wasn't used (the top was still smooth, shiny, and free of any "prints) but someone must've twisted the lipstick up and stuck on the lid. I was a little upset but I didn't want to return it just because of that so I gave it a go.

The Packaging: I absolutely love the "look" of the packaging for these. The lid itself is black with the "Givenchy" printed on it in small silver letters. Unlike other lipsticks, the lid extends all the way to the bottom of the tube (most go half way) and is a sleek, cubed shape (instead of round.) The tube itself is actually silver with the Givenchy logo and symbol imprinted on the bottom half. At the bottom of the tube is a silver square with the Givenchy logo and then a black ribbon at the end. The only thing is that I felt the lid was sort of "loose" and could easily come off the tube -which is risky if I'm carrying it in my purse.
The Product: The first thing I notice about this lipstick is that it is very moisturizing. However, I don’t feel that it “becomes one” with my lips. It doesn’t feel like a lip balm –still very much a lipstick. The texture is creamy and smooth and feels really nice on. The lipstick applies evenly and effortlessly –perfect for on the go. I also love that it gives your lips a nice sheen and doesn’t accentuate my lip lines or create flakes as some other pale or nude lipsticks tend to do if the formula is drying. The lasting ability is pretty long too but I tend to eat a lot so I can't give you any specifics. For me, it would last for about 2 hours but that's because I tend to eat or snack every 2 hrs or so. In my experience, there are no flaws in the product itself. I could only wish for more moisture (my lips are super ridiculously dry at times.) I will comment on the pigmentation of the particular color next but the majority of these lipsticks, in my experience, tend to be very pigmented.

Swatch..
The Color: Voluptuous Nude is a nice, subtle nude with a slight hint of peach that's not too light or dark -I'd say light medium. It's not as pale as I had hoped and kind of looks like my acutally lip color -just very slightly more nude. I also wish that it was more pigmented -so that maybe I could tell the difference between this shade and my actual lip color. The other colors in the line are very pigmented so maybe it's just this particular color. You can even see that the swatch (above) is sort of sheer. I think this particular shade is just a bit more sheer than the other shades in the line though I've heard a lot of good things about this shade though so maybe it'll work for someone else. The color will work for most skintones (light and dark) because it's not so pale or too dark.

Lip Swatches..
Overall: To me, the look (packaging) and feel of this lipstick is pure luxury. I'm just not loving this particular shade because it's too close to my natural lip color. I have heard many great things about this shade so I urge anyone who's interested to give it a try. The color is neutral enough that I can see it working for pretty much any skin tone. If you're not into this color, I recommend trying out another shade from the line. I love the packaging of these and the fact that they're pretty moisturizing for a lipstick. The only downside is the $28 price tag but hey, Sephora's offering 15% off your entire order for Beauty Insiders very soon on April 12th through the 19th.

  2. Thanks! I'm glad you like the color. Me? I'm feeling so so about it -I was expecting a bolder nude. This is a great option though for soft nude lips. =) But gosh I LOVE the packaging -so chic.
