TheBalm To The Rescue Vegan Lip Treatment Review (100% Proceeds go to Pugs!!)

About 2 months back (I know, I really need to start updating!!), I in the market for a new lip balm. I came across TheBalm's "TheBalm to the Rescue" Vegan Lip Treatment which retails for $16. The product had some good reviews on Sephora and Beauty.com so I thought I'd give it a shot. I liked that it came in a nice, big compact with a mirror. Also, 100% of the proceeds go towards Pug Rescue. So I thought, why not? It's cheap, cute and for a good cause. Also, I LOVE theBalm so I wanted to give it a try.

The (outside) packaging is extra cute..
So what's inside?
Nice, large compact..
(Should've taken a pic before using it.. oops!)

So everything's looking good.. but then THIS happens!!
Yupp, the entire tin that contains the lip balm/treatment fell out. This happened the first time I took it out of the box. It appears that the glue wasn't strong enough but I thought what the hey, if it's a good product, I'll just glue it back in myself. Don't want to bother returning it. P.S. I bought this INSIDE the Sephora store.. I just can't believe the packaging was so defective..
This is what the bottom of the tin (containing the product looks like.) Doesn't it just look completely disgusting??! I'm not sure if this happened to other people.. I sure hope not!!

Now onto the product itself..

This is more of a lip treatment than a balm. I wouldn't be able to go out wearing this -it would be best worn to bed or just sitting around the house. The treatment contains little crystal beads (like a lip scrub) and feels very gunky on the lips. The color is transparent and smells minty. Honestly, as much as I love theBalm, I did not like this product at all. Prior to using this, my lips were between normal and dry. I wanted to try something new to give my puckers that extra "kick" -something that would keep them hydrated. I used this for nearly 2 weeks straight and my lips actually got worse. I wanted to stick it out to see if it was this product that was causing my lips to become every dryer.

Also, thought the compact looks huge, I noticed that you have to use a bit of product per use -so this wouldn't last so long (at least for me.) It "hit pan" in just about a week! I also didn't like how mine was defective -but it is something that would've been easily fixable if I had liked the product. Maybe this will work on someone with "normal undry" lips but for me, it dried mine out like mad.

There are several PROS.. 100% of the proceeds goes to the resuce of pugs and the product is 100% Vegan. Also, this product does NOT contain: Parabens, Sulfates, Synthetic Fragrances, Synthetic Dyes, Petro-Chemicals, & Phthalates.

After this stuff destroyed my lips, I started using Smith's Rosebud Salve ($6 each or set of 3 for $16.) It totally makes my lips buttery smooth and keeps them hydrated. It can also be used for dry skin and rashes! Gotta love multi-taskers. I recommend buying the set because you get 3 different flavors and it saves you $2. It says "online only" but I found the set at my Sephora store.

  1. Hi there,
I ordered my balm online and got it today - the pan fell out, too. Really annoying, I don't want to return it :(
