Has anyone run into this problem?? I'm not able to blog!!!!

I was just working on another post and I got a message saying that my "photo storage space" was full and that I needed to purchase more space. I have NEVER encountered this problem. It's not like I get paid to blog -so why do I need to PAY just to add photos to my blog?! I'm about to move my blog over to Wordpress or my own website right now if this is how blogger treats us! Does anyone know how to fix this problem?! I cannot upload more pictures!! How do I get more space -does that mean I have to delete pictures from old blog posts (don't want to do that)? Help if you know!! Please..

  1. That is really odd...I've only been blogging for a few months, so I haven't encountered this problem, but from what I know of blogger, there isn't a storage capacity for users last time I checked. Maybe try emailing customer support?

  2. You are alloated a certain mb of photos.. I believe it is 1024mb if you are a free user (which I am) and you may have exceeded that. Go to Picasa.com and log into your blog from there...it's where your photos are stored. If you delete photos from there, they will be deleted from your blog as well. I know! I hate that! I hope you can figure it out!

  4. Yeah, it is because you used up your 1gb allocation in Picassa, if you know the beauty blogger Eki, she actually bought about 20gb or so because she always uploaded mag scan. This is why I'm very frugal with my blog pictures. Usually I limit my pictures size to 50 to 70 kb each and try to combined few raw pictures into one jpg.

  5. Interesting... it never occurred to me before that you might run out of space for photos! Now I should probably start being more mindful about the size of my pictures!

But yeah, I would suggest looking at what you have uploaded and deleting extra things that maybe you don't need/never posted. I don't think switching to wordpress would do you any good. They make you pay just to use a custom layout! :\

  6. The same happened to me recently. You can simply create an account with Photobucket, ImageShack or Flickr, and then you upload your pictures there and paste the link on your blog. It takes more time, but it's worth it more than having to pay for extra storage space. Hope it helps!

  7. This happened to me too recently! And Gaby is right, I also just upload my pictures using TinyPic or Photobucket.

  8. haha! OK random question. Do you think that if you washed your lotso bear, would the strawberry sent go away?

  9. @ Everyone.. Thank you everyone for your help. Also, thank you Gaby for your suggestion! I have a Photo Bucket but like you said, can take a long time to load -it already takes me a while just to upload directly to blogger! I'm probably going to pay the $5 (LOL I thought it would be more.. that's why I was so upset) but no totally sure left. I think I have a picture or 2 left (that I can upload) until I run out of space so I might not blog for the next few days.

I don't think I have the time to switch to Wordpress or use my own website right now but I will be looking into it (for the future.) For now, I'm sticking with blogger but I don't think we should have to pay for the extra storage! Aren't we already making Google more money anyways just by blogging for free?!

Also, it says that you get 20 GB for $5 a year. I'm wondering if this means a full "calendar year" or every year ..so next year (2011) I'll have to pay the fee AGAIN in January just because it's a new year. If that's the case, I want to wait until January 1st to blog again so I don't get charged twice. So everyone, not sure if I'll continue blogging before the new year but I'll email customer support to be sure. Sorry for any confusion!

@ Anonymous.. I think the scent would weaken but maybe after a few washes, it'll probably wear off completely. I don't have him yet -can't wait though!

  10. I agree with Gaby! But if it's really is $5, it would be better to pay for more storage (but like you said, google should just give it for free since they don't pay us to blog!)
Anyway, hope you found a way to settle this problem. =)

  11. so,this happens with most free blogging platforms. it's true it's a pain that you have to pay for extra storage but I mean you do use their platform for free it's not like you blog for google(as aisyah de cullen) insinuates. you are just using a platform provided fre by someone who happens to be google (between us, i'm just saying that is better to have a blog on blogspot than on wordpress because google indexes first their blogs and people can find your blog more easily when the search...on google :D).

even if you get your own domain you will still need a platform to write from, being either blogger or wordpress simply because if someone (aka a programmmer) doesn't do a admin interface similar to the ones above there's no way you can blog. a blog is not like a website where you put content up today and update it 3 moths from now. And trust me, a full working custom blog costs big bucks if you want replicated all the features that you have now.

in other words even if you have your own domain you would still not have this photo storage problem fixed. I would advise against photobucket because they have a traffic limit, if you exced it they won't show your pictures anymore.
I would recommend flickr just because you can blog directly from there. I mean you upload a picture (it's really quick) and them tell flickr that you wanna export it to blogger. And it opens a new post with that picture. That's what I would recommend.
Oh and20gb for 5 bucks is a steal, really.
If you have any more questions email me (i'm a programmer) and we might figure something out for I am not to rant here that much :))

  13. @ aisyah De Cullen.. Definitely agree -I'm going to pay for the storage. =)

    @ Tormentilla28.. That's Ok.. I actually fixed the problem!

  14. @ Schumitza.. I actually wasn't aware of the charge (when I first started blogging) and that it's the same case with most blogging platforms so thank you for filling me in. I actually do have 2 of my own websites.. or well I have the domain names paid for but I haven't had the time to actually do anything with them! So I'll be sticking with Blogger and it IS only $5 for 20 GB (when I first wrote the post, I assumed it would be more so I was a little upset.)

Thank you for filling me in all about this blog stuff -I'm HORRIBLE when it comes to computers. My parents and a few friends actually know how to do a lot of this stuff but I don't think I want to bother them with my blog -not sure if they even know about it! =P Also, you're right -it would cost a lot just to have someone figure out all these features for me.

And thank you for the Flickr recommendation. I'm about to pay the $5 fee so that I can continue with the same old system. The thing is, the way Blogger uploads pictures sometimes gives me issues but I think I'll just stick it out for now. I'm really such a dork when it comes to anything that has to do with computers -that's kind of why I just like sticking within my comfort zone (at least electronically LOL..)

    Again, thank you so much!!

  16. ohh interesting, I haven't ran out of room yet but hmmm good to keep this in mind! I guess $5 isn't a lot of money per year for more storage

  17. @ Pop Champagne.. I totally would've kept this in mind if I had known! I always add a bazillion pics to each post. I just paid the fee though and it isn't bad -hopefully I never exceed 20 GB though (at least not NOW!)

  18. ohhh wow! well now I will make sure I keep my pics to a smaller KB or use Photobucket. $5 isn't all too bad, I guess! Glad you figured it out:]
