For the first post in my "Purple Kisses" series, I thought I'd review the NYX Diamond Sparkle Lipstick in Sparkling Orchid.
The Packaging: The lipstick is packaged in black, plastic tube with a clear base at the bottom displaying the color inside. The cap is black with the NYX logo and product name written in white. The color name written on the top of the cap. I'm not too fond of the packaging -it's cheap and not the most attractive but I guess it's expected considering the bargain price.
I hate barcode stickers.. so ugly
The Product: The pigmented lipstick is on the glossy side and applies smoothly and evenly. I was impressed because the lipstick isn't drying -most cheaper lipsticks are, and feels slightly moisturizing. The lipstick is also unscented (I'm not a fan of scented products) and doesn't irritate my lips. It lasts for about 2 hours without eating or drinking -if my touch anything at all, the color disappears.
The Color: Pigmented violet with red undertones and violet and blue shimmer. This sort of reminds me of MAC Pro Violetta but way redder (not a blue-toned) and with more lots of sparkles. The lipstick leaves a sheer, berry stain and lots of glitter when it fades.

Above (no flash): MAC Pro Lipstick in Violetta (This was applied lightly -sorry I don't have a better photo of Violetta. I bought it but returned it since I couldn't see myself using it a lot -esp. for the price.)

Overall: I really like Sparkling Orchid but being a nude/pale lippie girl, the color is out of my comfort zone. Although it's more of a flashy lipstick, the formula is nice and you can't beat the price! If you're looking for a more glitzy lip color, definitely look into some of the NYX Diamond Sparkle shades. If you happen to get one, be sure to bring it with you though as the color isn't the most long lasting.

Where To Buy: NYX Cosmetics, Cherry Culture ($4.00)

Purple Kisses- Yet another blog series dedicated to my love for violet, lavender, lilac, and mauve  lipsticks and glosses.

  3. @ Stephine.. I'm sure you could totally pull the color off -maybe even sheer it out a bit or pair it with another lipstick or gloss?
