I picked up the Wet 'n' Wild i-Sparkle Palette in Solar Eclipse during my Rite Aid visit a few weeks ago. The palette came in 3 shades and I went with the safest choice and went for the neutrals. I was weary of the palette because it looked a little cheap -I thought maybe I should just go with another Color Icon Palette but the design was too pretty to pass up! I should've gone with my gut..

The Packaging: I love the floral layout of the eyeshadows and even though there are no "borders" to keep the colors from mixing, I don't feel like it's a problem because each shade is "raised" differently (so they're not all on the same "level.") The clear, plastic packaging is rather bulky and I already know that if I drop this, the eyeshadows will shatter and the palette will either get chipped or break. The palette comes with 2 sponge applicators which are in this case, convenient.

The Product: The design looks pretty and all but that's where the palette's "good qualities" stop. The eyeshadows are not pigmented -most of the shades are sheer. The one brown shade has decent color payoff but I need to layer it on at least 5 times to get decent pigmentation. These are also somewhat difficult to blend and when I do, the color fades drastically.

I usually apply my eyeshadows with brushes but for these eyeshadows, I feel like the sponge applicators work better for packing on the color. I have no idea why but I tried it and it works (for me.) I do use a blending brush for blending though.

The Color: All shades contain shimmer.
  1. Petals of flower (top left)- Sheer olive with golden shimmer.
  2. Center of flower (top left)- Sheer, pale yellow with golden shimmer.
  3. Background- Sheer, light tan with golden shimmer. This looks very dewy -like shimmery water. It would be amazing if it was more pigmented. (Reminds me of my Stila Jewel Palette)
  4. Flower (bottom right)- Chocolate brown with golden shimmer. This is the most pigmented of the bunch but I still needed over 5 layers for good color payoff.
Swatches..

Overall: I got this palette free during the BOGO at Rite Aid but I'm bummed that I could've gotten something better (free.) Because I try my best to judge lower end and higher brands on different scales, the palette is average (C grade) compared to other drugstore eyeshadows. However, if I were comparing this to say Urban Decay, this would be a D or lower.

The design is pretty but like a book or CD, a pretty exterior doesn't make up for the quality of the product. These really let me down -I've had some really great Wet 'n' Wild palettes in the past so it's just really a bummer! Wet n Wild, you really need to up your game when it comes to these i-Sparkle palettes.

Where To Buy: Rite Aid

And my Dessert Haul..

I stopped by Mitsuwa a few nights ago and picked up some Mango Mochi and Kit Kats in (I think) banana or strawberry banana flavor. They taste really yummy (but different) -I can't quite put my finger on the taste but it doesn't taste just like straight banana. The Mochi's decent -sort of wish I saved my $5 on something else.

  2. You're welcome. =) I've tried both but it's been a LONG time.. mochi's one of those things I have to be craving to enjoy. I HATE the Green Tea flavor though.. And the "ice cream" (for the mango one) inside of the "dough" is really, really good.

  4. hmm yea, the colors are way too sheer. haha I've learned not to buy drugstore eyeshadows or foundations anymore. just because of their quality usually! I don't think I bought any NYC for a long time, minus a black eye pencil a few years back

  6. @ Alvira.. Ooh chocolate sounds yummy right now! We don't get Galaxy here but I read online that your "Galaxy" is called "Dove" here in the U.S. -but it's not the same chocolate. Such a bummer because I'd love to try it. =(

@ Pop Champagne.. The thing is, I've learned but I still buy them! I love the "cheap, instant thrill" of buying drugstore makeup. Sometimes I do run into good drugstore products but usually I have to do my research beforehand. I should've looked this up before I bought it!

@ PoorCollegeStudent.. What's your favorite flavor?? I like it but NOT more than eyeshadow LOL.. But I probably love steak/mashed potatoes/fried chicken more. I also love bread and butter. =)

  7. the kit kat you bought is fruit punch flavor, or in japanese, "mix juice" it's just a bunch of fruit flavors mixed. just sayin!
