Bubblegum Pinks: Revlon ColorBurst Lipstick in "Carnation"

Product: 8.7/10

Value: 9/10
Overall Grade: B+
I know the Revlon ColorBurst Lipsticks have been out for awhile now and I finally bought my first one in "Carnation." Since I've tried it, I've been kicking myself for not getting on the ColorBurst train sooner!
The Packaging: The tube is a sleek matte black with quilted detailing that alternates around the tube. The front and back have quilting and the sides are solid. The top displays a colored square showing off the “color” (it’s slightly off but not by much) of the lipstick and the bottom displays the product/color name. I also really liked that the “barcode sticker” was very easy to peel off –I don’t like “barcodes” all over my makeup products. The "Revlon" indentation in the lipstick is also a nice touch.
Ingredients
The Product: At first I thought the lipstick was a little pricey but I realized that you're getting 0.13 oz of product which is pretty good (MAC is $14 for 0.10 oz, Shu Uemura is $23 for 0.13 oz.)
Back to the product. I can truly say that the Revlon ColorBurst Lipstick is the best "all around" drugstore lipstick I've ever used. I thought Revlon's older lipsticks were nice but this really takes the cake. The most important factors for me when it comes to lipstick is the way the lipstick feels and the way it looks. This lipstick feels hydrating and moisturizing on my usually dry lips and doesn't feel gritty or dry (it's not like a lip balm though where it gives off lots of moisture and keeps your lip soft afterwards though.) The texture is not thick or creamy -it's very light on the lips and the formula feels almost like a MAC glaze but with better color payoff.
As for the way it looks, I don't see and dry patches, flakiness, and it doesn't sink into my lip lines -issues I so often face with most lipsticks. The lipstick applies smoothly and with great pigmentation (not the best but very good.) Another bonus is that I can't detect any smell or taste with these which is huge for me. And wear time? This lasts under 3 hours and then starts to fade in a subtle, unnoticeable way.
The Color:
Carnation- Medium bright pink with a slight berry edge and minor shimmer.

Overall: Although I won't be repurchasing this specific shade again, I'll be looking into getting more ColorBurst lipsticks in different colors. I hightly recommend this to anyone who just loves a good lipstick. To me, this feels and looks like an expensive lipstick and feels better than some of the higher-end options. For instance, I think this feels much better than my MAC lipsticks. It’s not drying and I really love that. However, it can’t beat my Shiseido or Shu Uemura.
I loved everything about this lipstick except for the color and while it is definitely gorgeous, I just don’t like it on myself and it looks garish against my skin tone. Hopefully I have better luck with some other colors. Oh and the grade would've been an "A-" if the lipstick lasted longer and moisturized my lips in the long run.

Where To Buy: CVS, Target, Walgreens, Rite Aid

  2. Really?? I'm so surprised because my lips are highly prone to being dried out with lipsticks. Sorry it didn't work for you. =(

  3. I like this colour too. Love the colorbursts, too bad the baby pink one sucks though and melts and wrecks up in the tube so fast.

  6. Aww thanks. I actually really don't like the color against my skin! Maybe because it's outside my comfort zone of pales and nudes. Hope you like it ..when you get it!
