L'Oreal HiP Color Truth Cream Eyeliner in "Teal", the Weekend Massage, and "Grown Ups"

Repurchase: No
Price: $11.99 (0.159oz/ 4.5g)
Overall Grade: C
I've been looking for a teal cream/gel liner for a long time now but the only one I've been able to find is the L'Oreal HiP Color Truth Cream Eyeliner in "945 Teal." Right off the bat, I have to admit that it's expensive for a drugstore product (MAC Fluidline is $15 for 0.1oz/ 3g) Anyways, let's see how it held up!
The Packaging: The  glass jar reminds me of the MAC Fluidline jar but unlike Fluidline, the black cap is flat and plastic with the brand, name, etc. written on top in white font. The glass jar gives this drugstore cream liner a fancy schmancy look but the plastic cap brings it back down to "drugstore level." Also, I'm not a huge fan of glass containers because they're not exactly travel friendly. The brush that comes with it is your basic angled liner brush -I don't use it because it's too wide for my taste.
Product Description!
Ingredients!
The Product: The texture of the HiP Color Truth Cream Liner is a bit dry compared to my other gels/creams. It's also streaky and needs several layers to get even color payoff. Also, because of the dry texture, it flakes a lot -so much that you get fallout from the flaky bits. (It reminds me of when chalky paint is dried and little bits flake of.)
The liner is also not budgeproof and rubs of easily into flakes. It applied fine on my lower lashline and waterline without flaking. When applied to my upper lashline, it was so dry and flaky like my hand swatch so I always had to remove it.
On my lower lashline/waterline, the liner faded and smudged after about 2 hours. I can't say how long it lasted on my upper lashline because I always removed it right after applying -due to the flakiness. Also, the liner is easily removed with a baby wipe.
The Color: The color is a gorgeous deep medium teal with very minor shimmer that you can barely see unless you look up close. The "with flash" swatch is about 95% accurate and better resembles the actual color. The acual color is only slight deeper in "real life." The "non-flash" pic more accurately displays the flakes in the liner but the actual color is greener in person.

Overall: Although I love the beautiful teal color, the texture is too dry and flaky for my taste. Also, it wasn't longlasting (on my waterline/lower lash line) so there's really no positives besides the brilliant color and nice packaging. Plus, the color was sheer -but, it was buildable. I'd give it a C overall -the packaging and color really help the grade.

The Weekend Massage..
I got a massage today and it definitely could've been better. My last few massages have been "deep tissue" massages -which are generally very painful for me but help my body in the longrun. Today, I asked for a "light, relaxing" massage but it ended up being a little painful! =( The masseuse's elbow and bony arm kept digging into my own back bones.. pretty painful. She was really nice though and did give me some advice for my dry skin. She recommended almond oil, coconut oil, and a few other oils so I'll be giving those oils a try sometime.

Grown Ups..
I just saw Grown Ups yesterday and I absolutely adored it -I'd give it a B+ grade. The entire time, I was thinking to myself, "I can't wait for this to come out on DVD/Blu-Ray!" I never think that about movies unless they make me laugh so hard I want to pee myself. I'm amazed at how the critics, according to Yahoo movies, gave this (Grown Ups) a C- as compared to the C+ they gave Twilight: Eclipse. This was way better than Twilight and I regret not watching this on Wednesday instead -even though I'm a Twilight fan.

I'm a fan of all the comedians in the movie (Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider, and David Spade) so if you're sick of the likes of say -Will Ferrell, go see this (it might sound harsh but I dread watching any movies he's in.. or I'll like the movie except for his scenes.) I absolutely love Adam Sandler -even his not-so-great movies. My boyfriend and I love The King of Queens with Kevin James -he's always funny.. and I love, love LOVE Chris Rock -I've been watching Everybody Hates Chris reruns daily! If you like these guys, go see the movie -you'll love it. Even if you don't like them, I'm sure you'll get a few good laughs in there.

Chris Rock tries to distract Kobe..

Writing about "Grown Ups" reminded me of this. This seriously made me laugh so hard my ribs hurt. Kobe looks super dead annd sorry Chris, you tried! P.S. Chris is a Boston fan. He even mentions it in Grown Ups!

Have a lovely Saturday night!

  1. woo massage! I need one right about now. There are so many things to photograph and write about makes me overwhelmed. hahah. I know what you mean about the flaking of the liner. Found that if I warm it up a little bit with the dryer, it melts to be softer and flakes less. Happy 4th Kali!

  4. Hmm.. You could still give it a try although it's too flaky for me. Kristie (above) said that the key is to warm it up a bit before using it -although I haven't tried it yet.

  5. I definitely need a massage right now. Love your blog! Also, if you're looking for a drugstore gel liner, try Maybelline's new studio gel eyeliner. It's really smooth and pigmented... but I haven't tried it on my waterline yet so I'm not sure if it would stay on there...

  6. You just reminded me that I've really been wanting to try that! I wish the had more colors though because I don't really need a brown, black, or purple -do they have other shades? I've heard great things though!
